Asli Akbay is and always has been a Tomboy. Born in
the 1980s, back when no one even knew they had pronouns to defend, Asli
was already on her own gender-fluid journey, climbing trees and shunning
skirts. But as a teenager, things got complicated. Convinced she had to
look 'girly' to attract boys, Asli grew her hair and accepted life in a
female body. As a TomAdult she now thinks she knows better than to kowtow
to Instagram grooming levels. But does it have to be so... ahem... binary?
