Why is every single opera about a woman getting killed? Or worse, married? Opera needs to change, so Madame Chandelier is re-writing the stories, and making her comedy debut. She's saving women from a fate worse than tuberculousis, by giving them some agency. Or at least some antibiotics. Why would you die, when you could slay? 'Expert timing' **** (Observer).
